PRIVACY POLICY
This policy explains what Reverb LLC (“Reverb”, “we”) collects when you use Reverb, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
It covers our website at reverb.chat, the Reverb Record app at record.reverb.chat, the Reverb Chrome extension, and the Reverb app inside ChatGPT and Claude (served from mcp.reverb.chat). Together we call these the “Services”.
Effective date: October 1, 2026. This version replaces the policy effective November 7, 2019.
The short version: we collect what you give us to record and share audio, plus basic usage data. We use AI providers to transcribe recordings and power AI features. Anyone you give a share link to can listen to that recording. You can delete your recordings and your account at any time. We don’t sell your personal information.

Cookies. We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We use Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the Services are used. If you arrive through a referral link, our affiliate provider Tolt sets a cookie to credit the referral. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the Services may not work fully without the cookies needed for sign-in.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the Services: store your recordings, create share links, play them back, and run the features you choose
- Transcribe recordings, generate titles, and answer questions you ask about your recordings
- Change the voice of a recording or train a custom voice model, when you ask us to
- Deliver Voicebox messages and notify you by email when a new one arrives
- Process subscriptions and payments, and credit referrals
- Respond to your messages and provide support
- Keep the Services secure, prevent abuse, enforce usage limits, and investigate reports of harmful content
- Understand usage in aggregate so we can fix problems and improve the Services
- Comply with the law
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use your recordings or transcripts to target advertising. We don’t use your recordings to train our own AI models.
AI features and service providers
We use the providers below to run the Services. They process data only to provide their service to us, under contracts that require them to protect it.
Provider | What they do for Reverb | Data they receive |
|---|---|---|
Google Cloud | Hosting, database, file storage, sign-in, server functions | All account data, recordings, transcripts and settings |
OpenAI | Transcription, formatted transcripts and titles, answers to questions about your recordings | Recording audio and transcripts, only when these features run |
Replicate | AI voice changing and custom voice model training | The recording, training audio or YouTube link you choose, and the resulting audio |
Stripe | Payments and subscriptions | Name, email, payment details, subscription history |
SendGrid (Twilio) | Voicebox notification emails | Your email address, the sender’s name, a link to the message |
Netlify | Hosting for reverb.chat and record.reverb.chat | Usage and device data, form submissions |
Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager | Usage analytics | Usage and device data, cookie identifiers |
|
How AI providers handle your data. OpenAI receives audio and transcripts through its API. Under its API terms, OpenAI doesn’t use this data to train its models, and may keep it for a limited time to monitor for abuse. Replicate processes audio only to run the voice model you select. Neither provider may use your data for its own purposes.
We may also share information if required by law, to protect the rights, property or safety of Reverb, our users or the public, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
How recordings are shared
Anyone with a recording’s share link can listen to it. Each recording gets its own link (for example record.reverb.chat/s/…). Links are long and hard to guess, and share pages ask search engines not to index them, but anyone you give a link to can play the recording, forward the link, or download the audio. Treat a share link as public.
What others can see depends on what you share:
- Share links and embeds: the audio, its title, its length and, if you allow transcripts, the transcript. If you embed a recording in a website, tweet or email, people who see that content can play it.
- Responses: if you allow responses, people with the link can record a reply, and replies appear on the recording’s page.
- Voicebox: your Voicebox link lets anyone leave you a voice message. Only you can listen to messages left in your Voicebox.
- Collections and memoirs: private by default. If you make one public, anyone with its link can see and play its recordings.
- Teams: if you join a team, the team owner can see that you’re a member, and team features may share recordings within the team.
Recordings you don’t share stay private to your account.
Using Reverb in ChatGPT or Claude
The Reverb app lets you share an audio file from ChatGPT or Claude as a Reverb link. You don’t need a Reverb account to use it.
What we receive. When you ask the app to share a file, the assistant sends us a temporary link to download that file, its file name, and any title you give it. We don’t receive your name, email address or chat history. ChatGPT may send an anonymous identifier for your ChatGPT account; we use it only to limit how many files can be shared per hour.
What we do with it. We convert the file to MP3, store it on Google Cloud, and create a link at record.reverb.chat. We send the audio and its text to OpenAI to create a transcript and a title. The recording is owned by a Reverb service account, not linked to any Reverb account of yours.
Who can see it. Anyone with the link can play the recording and see its title and transcript, as described in “How recordings are shared” above. Shared recordings don’t accept responses.
Deleting it. Each time you share a file, you receive a private delete link. Opening it and confirming immediately deletes the audio, its transcript and its link. Keep the delete link private; we store only a scrambled (hashed) version of it, so we can’t send it to you again. You can also email us to delete or report a recording.
The assistant’s own policies. ChatGPT and Claude are run by OpenAI and Anthropic. Their privacy policies cover what happens in your conversation, including the file you upload to them.
How long we keep information
Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
Recordings, transcripts and AI output | Until you delete them or delete your account |
Recordings shared from ChatGPT or Claude | Until deleted with the delete link or at your request |
Account information | Until you delete your account |
Voicebox messages | Until you (the recipient) delete them or your account |
Payment and billing records | As long as tax and accounting law requires, usually 7 years |
Upload rate-limit counters (ChatGPT/Claude app) | About 2 hours |
Server and error logs | About 30 days |
Support emails and form submissions | Up to 3 years after the conversation ends |
When you delete something, we remove it from our live systems promptly. Copies in backups are overwritten within 30 days. We may keep information longer if the law requires it or to resolve a dispute or investigate abuse.
Your choices and rights
- Delete recordings: delete any recording in the app; its share link stops working.
- Control sharing: turn transcripts and responses on or off per recording, and keep collections private.
- Delete your account: in Settings, or by emailing us. This deletes your recordings, transcripts, voice models and Voicebox messages.
- Access, correct or export: email us to get a copy of your information or to correct it.
- Emails: unsubscribe from Voicebox notifications in Settings or using the link in any email.
- Cookies: block or delete cookies in your browser, and opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU and UK) or the CCPA (California): to know what we collect, to object to or restrict some uses, and to complain to a data protection authority. We don’t sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined in California law.
To make a request, email hello@reverb.chat. We’ll respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity first. We won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Children and schools
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without consent from a parent or school. The Reverb app in ChatGPT and Claude is for users those platforms allow, and is not intended for children under 13.
Teachers and schools use Reverb for classroom recordings. When a school or teacher sets up Reverb for students, the school is responsible for getting any consent required by law, such as parental consent under COPPA, and for its own obligations under FERPA. We use student information only to provide the Services to the school, never for advertising, and we delete it when the school asks.
If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information without consent, email hello@reverb.chat and we’ll delete it.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls on our database and storage, and limits on who at Reverb can access data. Delete links are stored only in hashed form. No system is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee the security of information sent over the internet. If we learn of a breach that affects your personal information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.
Where your information is processed
Reverb is based in the United States, and our providers store and process data mainly in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the US, your information is transferred to the US. Where the law requires, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy when our practices change and change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you by email or with a notice in the Services before it takes effect.
